Why

Gould's 'Malacca Dial Bird' is the magpie-robin of Malacca, Penang and Sumatra, with Raffles's musicus in his synonymy, and he says he never saw it from the Philippines and doubts it occurs there. It is Copsychus saularis musicus, a race of Oriental Magpie-Robin, not the Philippine Magpie-Robin that Gmelin's mindanensis names.
