Pachycephala gutturalis

Engraved caption: Pachycephala gutturalis

Modern identification

Golden Whistler

Pachycephala pectoralis

  • Certain
  • Checked against the engraved caption
  • Whistlers and Allies · Pachycephalidae

Why

Turdus gutturalis Latham = Golden Whistler; the plate shows the black-hooded, white-throated yellow male and the grey female. Gould's synonymy also takes in the western fuliginosa, but eBird 2025 keeps Western Whistler in Golden Whistler, so the species is the same either way.
