Why
Gould saw the Textile Wren only on the plains of the Lower Namoi, NSW, where he 'killed and dissected many examples', and the plate's male and female are those birds: the extinct NSW race inexpectatus of the Thick-billed Grasswren. Quoy and Gaimard's textilis, from Western Australia, is the Western Grasswren.
