Why

Gould's osculans from South Australia rests on intergrades between the Mt Lofty race rosinae, which eBird 2025 keeps in White-browed Scrubwren, and mellori of the Spotted Scrubwren (Schodde & Mason 1999). The plate's birds fall between the two, with throats streaked black but chest and flanks plain and no white tail tips, so it stands for the White-browed Scrubwren as it was before the split.
