Why

leucogaster Gould is the Black-faced Cormorant, abundant round Tasmania with seaweed nests on Bass Strait rocks. Gould describes a black bill and feet with no yellow facial skin, and the plate shows black faces; the Pied Cormorant has a yellow-orange face.
