Why

Temminck's Curruca orphea, from Italy and southern France, is the Western Orphean Warbler: every locality Gould gives is western, and both figures have the western bird's brownish back, pinkish-buff flanks and plain buff undertail. Seebohm cites the plate under his western S. orpheus, not his eastern S. jerdoni.
