Why

Sharpe (Cat. Birds BM xxiv) makes this plate the basis of Ochthodromus pyrrhothorax, the black-fronted Central Asian sand plover that winters in India: Temminck's specimen was Russian and Gould knew it from Indian collections. The adult's chestnut breast blends into the white throat with no black border, as in the Tibetan group. The small white forehead spots are the one point against.
