Modern identification

Not identified

    Why

Gould's Bimaculated Teal is the Vigors pair taken in an English decoy in 1812, the British 'Bimaculated Duck', a hybrid (Teal x Mallard or Teal x Wigeon), not Pallas's Baikal Teal; Salvadori lists the plate among the Common Teal's hybrids. The male's green head with two brown blotches, black-spotted chestnut breast and grey vermiculated flanks have nothing of the Baikal Teal's face pattern. No single species to name.
