Why

Gould uses bicalcaratum, after Blyth, for 'the Malayan bird' from Singapore and the Malay Peninsula, smaller and browner than his chinquis (VII.50, the Gray Peacock-Pheasant), with larger ocelli and a greenish-blue crest. His synonymy includes Scopoli's malaccensis. The plate's crested brown male is the Malayan Peacock-Pheasant.
