Modern identification

Upland Sandpiper

Bartramia longicauda

  • Certain
  • Sandpipers and Allies · Scolopacidae

Why

Actiturus bartramius (Wilson's Tringa bartramia, Bechstein's longicauda) = Bartramia longicauda, Upland Sandpiper. The engraved caption is lost in the binding gutter, but the text leaf and the plate (small head, large eye, short yellow bill, long barred tail) settle it.
